The same reason that I don’t like Morgan Spurlock. I watch their films with an open mind and then get turned off when they seem to distort facts to fit their agenda.
That’s what I hate about documentaries. People think its 100% real because its a documentary but they don’t stop and think “hmmm I wonder if they edited this a certain way or if there’s more to what the filmmaker is saying than he wants us to know.”
Maybe that’s why I don’t like network news or politics, you never get a straight answer. They try so hard to candy coat it for a direct audience and if you appose that opinion then you seem ignorant.
If you want to see both sides of a documentary then there are plenty of counter documentaries, but you should take them for a grain of salt as well.
Watch “Super Size Me” then watch “Fat Head”
Watch “Bowling for Columbine” then watch “Michael Moore hates America”
Watch “Loose Change” then watch “Screw Loose Change”
I know the counter docs have terrible titles that sound more like a middle finger than anything, but its more to get a point across.
Yeah this is a little off topic, but I’ve been watching a lot of Penn and Teller: Bullshit lately and I’ve been thinking about this kinda stuff. (If you’ve never seen the show then watch it, its amazing.)
